Our Story

Friends...

Claire and Declan officially met in 2017 at a hockey game in Bloomington, IL. Declan was a graduate assistant coach for the IWU Men’s Lacrosse Team and Claire was a Senior on the Women’s Lacrosse Team. After graduation, Claire stayed in Bloomington to coach as well, and the new friends became coworkers!

A few years later they both ended up living in Chicago, where they continued their friendship. Taking weekly ski trips to Wisconsin, annual ski trips to Jackson Hole, rollerblading all across Chicago, and tagging along with Mike Dean to various concerts, Claire & Declan built a strong friendship over those 8 years.

Roommates...

After moving in together as friends, Claire & Declan made it less than two months into their lease before they ended up dating.

All it took was a few too many drinks at a Green Day Concert for Declan to tell Claire he was in love with her…

Forever

Starting a relationship on the heels of an 8 year, adventure packed friendship made for a shockingly seamless transition into life together.

As evidenced by Liam’s arrival in October 2025, Claire & Declan couldn’t wait to get started on this next chapter, and they are so excited to finally celebrate it with friends & family!

The Langham room block closes on September 2nd and the Westin & Renaissance blocks close Sept 10th.

What to Wear

Formal attire is required. This includes floor length dresses or formal jumpsuits, suit jackets or tuxedos. Fall colors and earth tones are encouraged.

The ceremony is outdoors, adjacent to Lake Michigan at sunset, so expect a crisp fall breeze at the least.

Documentation

The ceremony will be an unplugged moment. Our photographers are being paid to capture it — and they’re very good at what they do. We kindly ask that phones stay tucked away.

After the ceremony concludes, you are welcome to use your phone for the remainder of the evening!

Parking

Shuttles will run to and from all three hotel block locations. Shuttle times will be updated closer to the event.

There will be no onsite parking offered. If you choose not to take the shuttle, it is recommended you park elsewhere and take an Uber/Lyft. The museum campus is a busy area with minimal public parking.

Food & Drinks

Expect great food and great energy. There will be an open bar the entire evening, ample hor d'oeuvres during cocktail hour, and a meal featuring some of Claire & Declan’s favorite foods. Late-night snacks will also make an appearance!
